Yes it is lovely. Mediterranean climate would suit it, perhaps dappled shade if it gets very hot where you are. Keep an eye on it – it can be a bit invasive in the right (or wrong?) conditions. And yes it is a member of the Iridaceae family.

Gosh, hard to believe they could be that invasive.

They grow in pretty big clumps and, in the right conditions (heat and rain) spread quickly from underground rhizomes.

Beautiful flower, it might just grow for me, it looks similar to an Iris, is it related?
